OUR 2026 INSTRUCTOR
MPS: Marine Biology and Ecology at the University of Miami
Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (minors in mathematics & chemistry) Roger Williams University
Kelsey will tell you she quite literally grew up on the water—and it shows in everything she brings to camp each day. With years of hands-on experience exploring coastal and deep sea environments, she has developed an understanding of marine ecosystems and a natural confidence working in and around the water. Just as important, she knows how to translate that knowledge into experiences that are exciting, age-appropriate, and memorable for middle school students.
Her enthusiasm is contagious. Whether she’s guiding campers through hands-on investigations, helping them observe marine life up close, or leading interactive discussions about ocean conservation, Kelsey creates an environment where curiosity thrives and every child feels included and engaged.
Safety is always at the forefront of her approach. Kelsey is attentive, well-prepared, and committed to maintaining a structured, supportive setting where campers can explore with confidence. Parents can feel assured that their children are in capable, responsible hands while learning and having fun.
At Ocean Alliance—a globally respected leader in whale research and conservation—Kelsey connects campers to real-world science in a meaningful way. She helps them see not just how marine ecosystems work, but why they matter, inspiring both a deeper understanding and a lasting appreciation for the ocean.
Marine Science is all about connections—between whales and waves, tidepools and tiny creatures, and the curious kids eager to explore them. In this program, students observe, collect, measure, wonder, question, test, and communicate as they dive into the living laboratory of the ocean.
With the instructor’s guidance, every visit to the shore brings new discoveries, deeper understanding, and endless questions, from low-tide explorations to hands-on scientific investigations using real equipment. Naturally curious children thrive here as our Marine Science program gives them the space, time, and tools to truly own their learning experience.
During the week, your child will learn to use compound and stereo microscopes, and how to prepare specimens for observation and discovery. Imagine using a stereo microscope to get up close to a tiny hermit crab! We examine x-ray images of marine life to understand their make-up and how they have adapted to their marine environment. Campers also take field trips to explore tidal pools and go on a whale watch!
