OUR 2026 SPACE SCIENCE SAMPLER INSTRUCTOR

Physics major at The University of Vermont
Amelia is a physics student at the University of Vermont, with minors in astronomy and mathematics, and a strong passion for helping young students explore science with confidence. As a teaching assistant for “Exploring the Cosmos,” she leads hands-on labs where she guides students to ask questions, work together, and clearly explain their ideas—skills she brings directly into her work with younger learners.
Amelia has extensive experience working with children as both a camp counselor and a rugby coach, where she emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and staying focused through challenges. She’s known for helping students stick with a problem, adapt when things don’t go as planned, and feel proud of completing what they start.
At camp, Amelia creates a supportive, engaging environment where 8–10 year olds collaborate and have fun exploring space science!
Here is a brief rundown of what we are planning to do:

“My favorite part was the Sun; using a special filter was amazing.”
– Solomon Rosner, participant
“The Galileo’s Astronomy program was a real eye opener for the kids. I think it was presented in a way that really engaged them, creating a lasting interest in science and engineering.”
– Donald Green, dad
“(I liked) the instructor’s way of teaching my child — easy going approach — fun — no pressure.”
– parent
Join us for a week of space exploration! Indoors and outdoors your child will have fun learning about such diverse topics as communicating, living, working and exploring beyond Earth.
Programs like this are a way to enrich summertime. It is a fun way to explore a topic, or in this case a broad field, encompassing physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, engineering, exploration itself and everything that goes into supporting and managing these endeavors.
This goes beyond the classroom. Children get to see themselves working in a field of applied science; and one that they enjoy. As one child exclaimed last summer, “I feel like an engineer!”
