Program Curriculum

This sampler is geared toward rising 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The week is divided into modules: rocketry, chemistry, drone clinic & professional gyroscope demonstration, microscope lab, structures, astronomy, magnetism, simple machines, engineering, and experimentation. There are plenty of outdoor activities, games, and challenges, and the freedom to explore. At the end of the week, we stage a mini science fair so your child can share what they’ve discovered.

Lindsay is a marine biologist and science educator with a focus on conservation and environmental stewardship. She works with all audiences and backgrounds from one year old to ninety-nine, literally! She has a very strong background in the natural sciences and a knack for keeping up to date with the other disciplines. As she grew into a scientist in the field, lab, and classroom, Lindsay began to understand that no one would care about making positive waves in the world, unless they knew about what was happening in it. She realized before long that she had developed a lifelong mission to connect young people to their community, to opportunity, to science, and to themselves. Everybody deserves an environment to facilitate developing their best self and to keep growing. Edge on Science helps to shape that by working with kids to develop their skills both scientifically, socially, and emotionally! If you want to get head-in and hands-on, check out Super Science Sampler with Lindsay!

All the Super Science Sampler activities are designed to expand your child’s knowledge and skills, all while having fun and making new friends. Many modules have an outdoor component, taking advantage of the majestic open spaces and beautiful landscape of the Regis College campus. Mid-morning and afternoon we take a 20-minute recess and get outside for some good old fashioned play time. Games, challenges and the freedom to explore add to the fun!

Why choose the EOS Super Science Sampler?

Insatiable curiosity—it comes naturally to a young child. Instructor Lindsay Hirt knows just how to nurture it, with activities that allow your child the freedom to try things out and have fun! Her approach, based on the self-determination theory in education, guides children to “own the science.” They will hone their ability to observe, wonder, and ask questions. Every day brings something new, engaging your young one and keeping things active. Doing. Sharing. Exploring. Tinkering. Building. Experimenting. Making new friends and having fun!
