YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Engineering major at Endicott College
James is an aspiring engineer whose passion leads him to explore, experiment, and experience science firsthand. His experience includes working with youth.
This sampler is geared toward rising 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The week is divided into modules: rocketry, chemistry, drone clinic, microscope lab, structures, astronomy, magnetism, simple machines, engineering, and experimentation. There are plenty of outdoor activities, games, and challenges, and the freedom to explore. At the end of the week, we stage a mini science fair so your child can share what they’ve discovered.
“Edge on Science takes science off the page and puts it into the hands of your child.”
– Rondalyn Whitney, mom
“Edge on Science has been a wonderful learning experience for my grandson. He has enjoyed every minute of it (rocketry & bridge building).”
– Carole Bradley, grandmother
“Edge on Science went above and beyond to make sure our spring break program was fun and interesting. Well prepared!”
– Bernadette Kegan, program director, Acton-Boxborough School District
All the Super Science Sampler activities are designed to expand your child’s knowledge and skills, all while having fun and making new friends. Many modules have an outdoor component, taking advantage of the majestic open spaces and beautiful landscape of Lasell University. Mid-morning and afternoon we take a 20-minute recess and get outside for some good old fashioned play time. Games, challenges and the freedom to explore add to the fun!
Insatiable curiosity—it comes naturally to a young child. The idea is to give your child the freedom to try things out and have fun! Based on a self-determination theory in education, children “own the science.” They will hone their ability to observe, wonder, and ask questions. Every day brings something new, engaging your young one and keeping things active. Doing. Exploring. Tinkering. Building. Experimenting. Making new friends and having fun!
